During my time on Mattel’s Product Development team, I collaborated with a cross-functional group of 15+ members across engineering, design, marketing, quality, and management to streamline the development process from concept to production. My primary focus was addressing truck stiffness inconsistencies in Hot Wheels Skate fingerboard assemblies.
Using SolidWorks, Creo, and FEA software, I redesigned the assembly, iterating through 3D-printed prototypes to refine the design. These efforts increased product lifespan by 40%, reduced stiffness variability by 35%, and contributed to projected savings of $225,400 for the 2025 product line.
In addition to design improvements, I resolved stack-up tolerance issues on the production line by creating a custom fixture that reduced workmanship variation by 25%, improving manufacturing consistency and overall quality. This project reinforced my skills in mechanical design, prototyping, and manufacturing process optimization.
